본 연구는 전복 먹이종류에 따른 성장 효율성 검토를 위하여 같은 어미에서 생산된 같은 크기의 개체를 사용하여, 동일한 사육환경 내에서 천연먹이인 미역 (UP), 다시마 (LJ) 및 시판용 전복 배합사료 (FD) 를 공급하였다. 그 결과, 각장형질의 성장은 미역 (UP) 및 다시마 (LJ) 를 공급한 실험구가 배합사료 (FD) 실험구 보다 유의적으로 빠른 것으로 나타났다. 반면, 증체율은 해조류를 공급한 실험구 (UP 및 LJ) 보다 배합사료 (FD) 실험구가 높게 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 먹이의 종류에 따라 패각의 성장과 근육부위의 성장이 각각 다르게 나타날 수 있다고 생각된다.
