Operating Rules for the Editorial Committee

1. Purpose
The purpose of these regulations is to stipulate matters related to the operation of the Editorial Committee in accordance with 4-2 of the Society for Korea Obesity and Metabolism Studies (hereinafter referred to as "the Society").

2. Establishment
The Society has established an Editorial Committee to edit and publish regularly-issued academic journals.

 

3. Composition
The Editorial Committee comprises the following:

1) One Editor-in-Chief

2) Up to four Assistant Editors

3) Up to 15 Editorial Committee Members

4) If necessary, one Chair of the Editorial Committee may be appointed.

 

4. Appointment and Term

1) The Chair of the Editorial Committee and Editor-in-Chief are appointed by the President from among those qualified as board members.

2) The Assistant Editors and Editorial Committee Members are appointed by the Chair of the Editorial Committee and the Editor-in-Chief from among the members with outstanding academic achievements in the field of obesity and metabolic syndrome, both domestically and internationally.

3) The terms of office for the Chair of the Editorial Committee Editor-in-Chief, Assistant Editors, and Editorial Committee Members are generally set at 2 years, with the possibility of reappointment.

 

5. Duties

1) The Editorial Committee oversees the following matters related to the review, editing, and publication of papers in the official journal of the Society: Archives of Obesity and Metabolism.

(1) Matters related to the revision of regulations concerning the publication of the journal
(2) Matters related to the review of manuscript submissions
(3) Matters related to the editing and publication of the journal
(4) The final publication of the journal

2) The Editorial Committee has established the "Manuscript Submission Regulations" regarding manuscript submission, review, and publication, and after review by the Board of Directors, these regulations are implemented.

3) The Chair of the Editorial Committee or the Editor-in-Chief must report the results of journal editing and publication to the Board of Directors.

 

6. Convocation and Quorum for Decision-Making

1) The Editorial Committee generally meets four times a year; however, meetings may be convened when the Chair of the Editorial Committee or the Editor-in-Chief deems it necessary or when requested by a majority of the Editorial Committee members.

2) If both the Editor-in-Chief and the Chair of the Editorial Committee are present at the meeting, the Chair of the Editorial Committee serves as the chairperson.

3) A meeting of the Editorial Committee is considered open if at least one-third of the Editorial Committee members attend, and decisions are made with the approval of the majority of those present. The Chair of the Editorial Committee has voting rights and, in case of a tie, the casting vote.

4) The Chair of the Editorial Committee or the Editor-in-Chief may establish subcommittees, as needed.

7. Publication and Distribution of the Journal

1) Papers that pass the required review process will be published in the official journal of the Society, the Journal of Obesity and Metabolic Research.

2) The journal is published twice a year, on June 30 and December 31.

3) The published journal may be distributed free of charge to the members and training hospitals of the Korean Academy of Family Medicine, among others.

 

8. Other Matters
Any matters not specified in these regulations will be determined by the Editorial Committee.
