Abstract

We consider the slotted Aloha-based access network where multiple transmitters try to send deadline-constrained packets to the access point. The delivery deadline of packets may be generally a random variable depending on the type of traffic or their urgency. The successful delivery probability (SDP), which is defined as the long-run fraction of packets successfully delivered to the receiver before their maximum allowable deadline, is a suitable measure for evaluating the performance of time-critical traffic. We derive the closed-form expression for the SDP for the slotted Aloha-based access network under the assumptions of MPR and general delivery deadline distribution.
