1. Purpose
and Scope
These regulations aim to define general matters
related to the submission, review, and publication of manuscripts to be
published in the Archives of Obesity and Metabolism (AOM), the official
journal of the Society for Korean Obesity and Metabolism. The journal will
include original papers on obesity, complications of obesity, and metabolism, which
meet its requirements. It will not only focus on research findings but also
select and publish scientific knowledge, information, and opinions related to
these fields. The journal will be published in Korean to facilitate the easy
sharing of these materials with readers.
2. Publisher and Publishing Entity
The publisher of the journal is the President of
the Society for Korean Obesity and Metabolism Studies, and the publishing
entity is the Society for Korean Obesity and Metabolism Studies.
3. Publication Date
1) The journal is published biannually, with
regular publication dates set as June 30 and December 31 each year.
2) Considering the time required for
publishing, printing, and creating databases, following a resolution by itself,
the Editorial Committee is to complete the editing of manuscripts that have
undergone review and finalize the publication process at least 7 days before
the publication date.
4. Editorial Committee
The selection and editing of the manuscripts to be published are supervised by
the Editorial Chairperson/Editorial-in-chief for that year. The Editorial
Chairperson forms and convenes the Editorial Committee to manage its operations
for journal publication.
5. Types of Manuscripts and Publication
Decision
Manuscripts are categorized into review articles, original articles, case
reports, commentaries, editorials, and letters. Submitted manuscripts must not
have been published in or submitted to any other journal. The final decision
regarding the publication of submitted manuscripts will be made by the
Editorial Committee.
6. Manuscript Submission
Manuscripts are submitted through the journal's submission website on a rolling
basis. The submission date of the manuscript is the date it is received via the
website. The manuscript format and guidelines must comply with the journal
submission regulations.
7. Manuscript Review Procedure)
(1) Notification of Review Process: Upon submission, the submitter will
be notified that the manuscript is undergoing the review process.
(2) Selection of Reviewers: The Editorial-in-Chief and Director of
Publications will consult with the Editorial Committee members to select two
experts related to the subject area of the submitted manuscript as reviewers.
When selecting reviewers, those with a
direct or indirect connection to the authors of the manuscript will be excluded.
(3) Request for Review: The Editorial-in-Chief and Director of
Publications will request that the selected reviewers review the manuscript.
(4) Review Report: Reviewers will be asked to submit a review checklist
that includes a summary evaluation and comments on the manuscript.
(5) Processing of Review Results
① The editor will consider the submitted review
reports and categorize the manuscript as follows:
i) Published as submitted,
ii) Published after minor revisions (editor’s discretion),
iii) Published after major revisions and re-evaluation,
iv) Rejected.
The review results will be communicated to the
manuscript submitter.
② When notifying the review results, the review
reports submitted by the reviewers will be anonymized and included to help the
author revise the manuscript.
(6) Management of Manuscripts Requiring Revisions: Manuscripts that
require revisions must be submitted within 4 weeks after the revision request.
If the author does not submit the revised manuscript within 12 weeks after the
revision request, the manuscript will be considered withdrawn.
8. Publication
Procedure
(1) For manuscripts approved for publication, the authors (contributors) will
perform the proofreading work directly before final publication. The Editorial
Committee will exercise editorial authority according to the journal's
publication and submission guidelines and will finalize the proofreading and
editing. However, even if a manuscript has been accepted for publication, if
the submission guidelines are not thoroughly followed, or proofreading is not
completed, the manuscript may be rejected.
(2) The publication order of manuscripts approved for publication will be
determined based on the type of manuscript and the date of final acceptance, in
accordance with the journal's editorial guidelines and review regulations. The
order of publication by manuscript type will follow this sequence: Perspective, Original Articles,
Reviews, Case Reports, Editorials, and Correspondence. In the case where the date of final acceptance is
the same, manuscripts submitted earlier will take precedence. The publication
order may be adjusted following discussions by the Editorial Committee.
9. Publication Format
The journal will be published with the pISSN 2951-0333 in print format, and
online publication will be issued with the eISSN 2951-0597.
10. Open Access Policy
The AOM follows a CC BY-NC (Attribution-NonCommercial) license for the
reuse of scholarly papers. This allows for the non-commercial use of the work
with proper attribution to the author and source as well as the creation of
derivative works based on the original.
Authors are permitted to post the post-print version of their manuscript on
their personal websites and the journal's website under CC BY-NC conditions
immediately after publication.
11. Publication Processing Charges
(1) The publication charges, including submission, review, and publication
fees, are covered by the publishing organization to support the journal's
development and broader reach.
(2) The charges for manuscript processing may change in the future as required.
12. Copyright
The copyright for all published manuscripts and the resulting publications
derived from these manuscripts are held by the Society for Korean Obesity and
Metabolism Studies.
13. Distribution
The journal will be distributed free of charge to the members of the society.
In cases where individuals or organizations not affiliated with the society
request a subscription, the Board of Directors will determine approval and
subscription fees.
