The Journal of Biblical and Ancient Studies (JBAS) is a peer-reviewed international English journal, featuring double-blind review and Diamond Open Access, published under the auspices of the Johannine Literature Studies of Korea (JLSK). JBAS provides a platform for scholars worldwide to contribute original research on the Bible (both the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament) and ancient literature written in classical languages, including Greek, Hebrew, Aramaic, Akkadian, Coptic, Korean, Japanese, Chinese, etc.

The journal publishes articles and brief studies in English and Korean that explore the origins, historical contexts, theological and philosophical themes, literary features, and archaeological aspects of biblical and ancient texts. JBAS welcomes submissions that apply a wide range of academic methodologies, including exegetical, historical-critical, literary, and theological approaches, as well as interdisciplinary perspectives incorporating social sciences such as law, anthropology, sociology, and economics, etc.

By fostering dialogue across diverse fields, JBAS seeks to advance scholarship on the interpretation, transmission, and influence of biblical and ancient texts in both Eastern and Western traditions.

All submitted papers should encompass all research in the aforementioned fields, and we welcome submissions that utilize various methodologies.

This journal aims to publish innovative papers that can serve the modern global society by pioneering new research fields and using ancient languages to facilitate dialogue between the East and West through the study of the Bible and ancient literature.

This journal is published with the support of the Johannine Literature Study of Korea (JLSK), but membership in the society does not affect the review of submitted papers.

Peer review is conducted by the editorial board, which consists of the editor-in-chief and approx. 15 members, and the term of the editor-in-chief and each member is generally 2 years.

Types of submitted manuscripts: Articles, forewords of special issues such as the inaugural issue, and papers presented at the regular presentations and special academic conferences of the Johannine Literature Study of Korea (JLSK) will be published in this journal according to the submission and ethical guidelines of the journal.

Sponsorship: We receive sponsorship from the research fund of the Korean Johannine Literature Society (JLSK), funds raised by the editorial board, and sponsorship from individuals and organizations interested in 'The Bible and Ancient Literature (JBAS)' through the decisions of the editorial board
