The Journal of Northeast Asian History [JNAH] is a peer–reviewed biannual open–access journal published by the Northeast Asian History Foundation. It aims to explicate the contexts and current situations of historically controversial topics in and of the Northeast Asian region across all periods. The journal seeks to test diverse methodologies, including interdisciplinary and transnational approaches, textual and intertextual interpretations, and media and visual analyses. By publishing high–quality academic papers, book reviews, and research trend reports in English, JNAH provides a platform for international dialogue among scholars in the humanities and social sciences while fostering exchanges with policymakers and practitioners. Dedicated to promoting academic and practical conversations, the journal contributes to deepening understanding of Northeast Asia’s past,
present, and future.
JNAH is published semiannually, in June and December. Submissions are available at all times; however, to be considered for publication in the June issues, your manuscript must be submitted by February 28, and for the December issues, by August 31. All eligible manuscripts submitted to JNAH undergo a peer review process conducted by three experts in the relevant fields, as recommended by the editorial board members. Please note that even if a manuscript is approved by reviewers, there may be an additional 6-month delay in publication due to the backlog of previously accepted manuscripts. The publication costs for JNAH are covered by the Northeast Asian History Foundation. Authors do not need to pay any article–processing charge. For detailed information about the submission of manuscripts, please contact the Journal at jnah@nahf.or.kr or jnah.nahf@gmail.com.
Please note: The Journal of Northeast Asian History will be published online starting in 2025, with all articles made available to readers as open access.
