The purpose of this study was to analyze the therapeutic effects of couple's group therapy, and to discuss the application of couple's group therapy to couple'sor marital counseling. For this purpose, the author reviewed articles and analyzed the couple's group processes. The result was as follows. First, couple's group therapy was effective by enabling the participants to establish the holding/supportive environment. Second, couple'sgroup therapy was effective by allowing the participants to explore their dysfunctional patterns, and to enable them to develop functional patterns.Third, the couple's group therapy was effective by enabling the participants to experience the universality of their conflicts. Fourth, couple's group therapy was effective by allowing the participants to enhance the acceptance and intimacy by self-disclosure between the couples. Thus, the couple's group therapy was effective for those who had clinical and rigid dysfunctional interaction patterns, such as blaming, struggles, and project identification, and denial defense mechanism.
