Development and validation of the Eogul Scale for younger adults on their 20th and 30th

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop and validate the scale to measure Eogul. Based on the literature review and through expert review, we developed 47 items that reflected the cognitive, emotional, behavioral and physical characteristics of Eogul. Then, we conducted exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses in a sample of adults on their 20th and 30th. The result showed that the Eogul scale consisted of 15 items, 3 factors (‘emotional/physical reactions’, ‘unjust beliefs’, and ‘avoidant behaviors’). In addition, the convergent, discriminant, and concurrent validity tests revealed that the Eogul scale that it was significantly related to the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory, Positive and Negative Affect Schedule, Belief in a Just World Scale, Hwa-byung Scale, and Post-traumatic Embitterment Disorder Self-Rating. Finally, through the increment validity test, the Eogul scale was found to add to the predictor of criterion variables (Hwa-byung, Post-traumatic Embitterment Disorder) above state-trait anger and negative affect.
