This study aims to systematize the reading material selection factors from the users’ perspective and to identify their relative importance and priorities. To this end, based on the appeal factor system and empirical research on book selection, an AHP model structured with 5 superordinate factors and 22 subordinate factors was designed, and survey data on pairwise comparisons between factors were collected to identify relative importance and priority. Also, the study identified the characteristic that the relative importance of reading material selection factors varies depending on the segmented characteristics of users(gender, age, reading cycle, and book genre). The results of this study are significant in that it provides a theoretical foundation for improving the information search environment from the perspective of information users by identifying the selection factors that readers consider important.
