Abstract
The number of catholics in Korea amounts up to the 10% of the total population, and Korean Catholicism is not considered as a foreign religion. Nevertheless, actually it is not easy to find the articles explaining clearly the differences between Catholicism and other christian organizations, i.e., the protestant denominations or the Orthodox Church. So we would like to do it through identifying the various characteristics of Korean Catholicism, and estimate its future aspects on the basis of the configuration of korean religions in the 21th century. Many people in the study of religion prefer to apply the triad schema, dogma, ritual and community for analysing the particular religious phenomena. We also traced several religious features of Korean Catholicism from the perspective of dogmatical teaching, ritual practice and hierarchical system. The former two were extracted from the official catechism of Roman Catholicism, and the last from the present Code of Catholic Canon Law.
