Online platforms as a progression of digitalization have become important social and economic phenomena. The platform economy was referred to as a sharing economy; however, in reality, it demonstrated the nature of a monopoly economy. Platform cooperatives has emerged as an alternative to commercial platforms. This study analyzed the activities of the Life Magic Care Cooperative, the only platform cooperative in Korea that operates online apps. It analyzes how the characteristics of platform cooperatives, which are distinguished from commercial platforms, are being implemented in Life Magic Care, how the organizataion is experiencing the problems faced by platform cooperatives, and what efforts are being made to overcome them. Until now, Life Magic Care has been trying to maintain its cooperative identity as a member initiative, while seeking to expand its scale and survive in the market. However, these efforts are not complete, but provisional, and remain a goal to continuously strive for in the future.
