Abstract

This study investigated and analyzed librarians’ perceptions of changes in the role of libraries as a response agency to local extinction. To this end, a survey was conducted on the general characteristics of public library librarians, the relationship between local extinction and communities, the role of libraries as response agencies to local extinction, internal and external influencing factors for the role of libraries in response to local extinction, and the experience of operating library services as a response agency to local extinction. As a result of the study, librarians were found to be aware of the need to establish a cooperative system between local communities and libraries to respond to local extinction, secondly, to establish a library role as a medium for regional problem-solving space, bridging the information gap, improving the settlement base, urban regeneration and local revitalization, etc., and thirdly, to analyze the library environment to perform the library role as a response agency to local extinction, to support budget and manpower, and fourthly, to develop various services for the library role as a response agency to local extinction.
