The Relationship of Covert Narcissism and Early Working Alliance
; pp.585-605
초록보기
Abstract

This paper consists of two studies. In Study 1, Covert Narcissism Scale(CNS) and Working Alliance Inventory(WAI) were administered to 63 clients from university counseling centers before session 1 or 2 and after session 3 accordingly. Analysis revealed that clients with higher CNS perceived less Working Alliance. Sub-factors of Working Alliance showed negative correlation with inner-goal-instability of Covert Narcissism. In Study 2, among high CNS cases, two each with high and low Working Alliance were analyzed from a counselor-client complementarily viewpoint. In the former cases, both displayed friendly responses in affiliation relations. In control dimension, counselors showed dominant, and clients, docile responses. In the latter, clients displayed hostile, and counselors, friendly responses and the same results were shown for the control dimension.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of anadolescent internet addiction group counseling program conducted in Korea which were published in 41 thesis and articles during 2001~2009. The results are as follows : Firstly, the mean of 195 effect sizes was found to be 1.04. Secondly, the effect of the middle-high school group was the highest compared to elementary or middle school. Thirdly, treatment-focused programs are higher than prevention-focused programs. Fourthly, over 10-session-groups have higher effect sizes than 6~9-session or under 5-session-groups. Fifthly, the mean effect sizes of an eclectic approach was the highest of the other approaches. Finally, internet addiction was the highest of other dependent variables. The implications of this study results were discussed.

; pp.625-641

Abstract

This study tested whether a movie-based anger control program reduces male middle school students' aggressiveness. The therapeutic factor of movies was added to an existing anger control program. This study referenced the Hostility Scale of Buss & Durkee (1957), translated by RhoAn-nyeong (1983). The experimental groups showed significant decreases over the control group in overall aggressiveness. Among aggressiveness subfactors: violence, negativity, indirect aggressiveness and excitability decreased. The movie-based program was particularly effective in violence and negativity. Accordingly, movies proved effective in reducing male middle school students’ aggressiveness.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to develop and validate the congruence scalefor adults. This study gathers data in three steps. The first step conducted a structured questionnaire survey of 189 adults for pilot research. The second step involved the development and validation of the final congruence scale through a structured questionnaire survey of 733 adults on the congruence scale. The last step confirmed cross-validity using a sample of 263 counselors. The final 30 items were identified through confirmatory factor analysis with a maximum likelihood estimate. Based on the results, the best model for the congruence construct consists of three dimensions(interpersonal dimension, intrapsychic dimension and spiritual dimension.), and the congruence scaledeveloped in this study is a reliable and valid instrument

The Mediating Effects of Shame and Coping Style on the Relationship between Parental Attitudes, Maladaptive Perfectionism and Psychological Maladjustment
; pp.661-682
초록보기
Abstract

This study attempted to examine the effect of parental attitudes on perfectionism among college students(M:99, F:179) and to verify the mediating effects of shame and coping style on the relationship between perfectionism and psychological maladjustment. For data analysis. correlation analysis and structural equation modeling were employed. In Model 1, 2, the direct effect of perfectionism on psychological maladjustment was not statistically significant, while the indirect effects of shame and the maladaptive coping style were statistically significant, suggesting complete mediating effects. In comparing these two models the model 2 was determined to be more definitive. Finally, limitations of the present study and directions for future research, as well as the clinical implications of the study’s findings, were discussed.

The Relation between Covert Narcissism and Career Indecision: The Mediating Effect of Anxiety and the Moderating Effect of Independence on the Subscale of Career Attitude Maturity
; ; ; pp.683-701

Abstract

This study examined the mediating effect of anxiety and moderating effect of independence, the subscale of career attitude maturity on the relation of covert narcissism and career indecision among 234 university students. The major results are as follows. First, anxiety mediated partially the relation between covert narcissism and ‘indecisiveness', the subscale of career indecision. Second, independence, the subscale of career attitude maturity, moderated the relation between covert narcissism and ‘the lack of recognition about necessity’, a subscale of career indecision. Based on these findings, implications on career counseling and future research were discussed.

Abstract

The goal of this paper is to find counseling strategies to improve adolescents' academic performance, based on self-determination theory. Academic performance processes assumed in this study i.e.,learning motivation →self-efficacy of academic performance → intention to study → academic achievement was examined through regression analyses with data from 481 middle or high school students. Based on the results, the following implications and counseling strategies should be employed: Enhance students’identified regulations but inhibit their introjected, external and non-regulationsHelp them to know values and meanings of learning, to reduce their guilty, shame, pressure, competition and anxiety related academic performance, and to prevent their amotivation and helplessnessself-management was a less important variable than self-confidence and intrinsic motivation for improving academic performance.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to develop a Parent Education Program for Christians and to investigate its effects. In order to develop the Parent Education Program for Christians, Parent Education Program Development Model was developed, based on precedence research and literature research. In order to verify the effect of Parent Education Program for Christians which was developed in the present study, the subjects of the program were randomly alloted to training group and control group. Each group consisted of 12 married christian mothers. Parent Education Program for Christians was made up of 11 sessions, 120 minutes per session. The training group was significantly higher than the control group in the level of overall Scale for Christian Children’s Nurture. Suggestions based on this research were also discussed.

The Effects of Self-Determination and Academic Procrastination on Academic Stress: The Longitudinal Analysis of Multivariate Latent Growth Modeling
; pp.747-764

Abstract

This study examined the change of academic procrastination, self-determination and academic stress together with the relation among alteration of these three variables. A total of 274 undergraduates were assessed three times from the beginning of the semester until the mid-term period. The results analyzed by the Latent Growth Model indicated that the level of academic procrastination and academic stress increased as time passed. However, self-determination motive showed no changethus, the linear model could not be applied. The results also analyzed by the multivariate Latent Growth Model revealed that self-determination and academic stress were mediated through academic procrastination in initial time. In addition, the change of academic procrastination had a positive effect on the change of academic stress.
