Issue Release Dates: February 28, April 30, June 30, August 30, October 30, and December 30

1. Submission

Authors must submit manuscripts through the official online submission system of JWMAP or by the method designated by the editorial office.

Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format. PDF files may be required as supplementary files for peer review, but the main manuscript file should be submitted in an editable format.

All correspondence, including acknowledgment of submission, requests for revision, editorial decisions, and publication-related notices, will be conducted by e-mail or through the online submission system.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript file, title page, author information, tables, figures, supplementary materials, and required declarations are complete and accurate at the time of submission.

2. Submission Declaration

Submission of a manuscript to JWMAP implies that:

  • The manuscript has not been previously published

  • The manuscript is not under consideration for publication elsewhere

  • All authors have made substantial contributions to the work

  • All authors have approved the final version of the manuscript

  • All authors agree to submit the manuscript to JWMAP

  • All conflicts of interest have been disclosed

  • All sources of funding or support have been acknowledged

  • The research complies with applicable research ethics and publication ethics standards

Authors must not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal at the same time. Redundant publication, duplicate submission, plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, inappropriate authorship, citation manipulation, peer-review manipulation, and undisclosed conflicts of interest are not permitted.

3. Research and Publication Ethics

JWMAP follows the principles and guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors, reviewers, editors, and editorial board members are expected to comply with the journal’s research and publication ethics policies.

Authors must ensure the originality, accuracy, and integrity of their manuscripts. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, data fabrication, data falsification, inappropriate authorship, and other forms of research or publication misconduct are unacceptable.

For research involving human participants, human data, human materials, animals, or biological materials, authors must comply with relevant laws, institutional guidelines, and ethical standards. Where applicable, authors must state that the study was approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), or an equivalent ethics committee.

Authors must disclose any financial, personal, institutional, or other conflicts of interest that could influence the research, interpretation, review, or publication of the manuscript.

4. Plagiarism and Similarity Check

JWMAP may use iThenticate, Crossref Similarity Check, KCI Similarity Check, or an equivalent plagiarism-detection system to identify overlapping or similar text in submitted manuscripts.

Manuscripts with serious similarity, plagiarism, duplicate publication, inappropriate citation, or other ethical concerns may be returned, rejected, or subject to further ethical review.

The similarity report is used as a screening tool, and the final judgment is made by the editorial office based on the nature and extent of the overlap.

5. Use of Generative Artificial Intelligence

Generative artificial intelligence tools, including large language models and multimodal AI systems, cannot be listed as authors because they cannot take responsibility for the content, accuracy, originality, research integrity, or ethical compliance of a manuscript.

If authors use generative AI tools in manuscript preparation, translation, editing, data processing, image generation, coding, or other research-related work, they must disclose the use of such tools where appropriate.

Human authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, validity, citation, ethical compliance, and final content of the manuscript.

6. Copyright and Open Access

The copyright and publishing rights of articles published in JWMAP are owned and managed by KODISA Foundation.

By submitting a manuscript to JWMAP, authors agree that, upon acceptance for publication, the copyright and publishing rights of the article are transferred to KODISA Foundation. KODISA Foundation has the right to publish, reproduce, distribute, archive, index, and provide public access to the article in all formats, including PDF, XML/HTML, DOI registration, KCI indexing and metadata registration, and other scholarly database services, in accordance with the journal’s copyright and open access policy.

All articles published in JWMAP are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0), unless otherwise stated.

7. Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts are first checked by the editorial office for completeness, format, required documents, ethical compliance, conflict-of-interest disclosure, copyright agreement, and similarity check.

After the initial screening, the Editor-in-Chief or a designated handling editor conducts a desk review to determine whether the manuscript fits the aims and scope of JWMAP and meets the minimum scholarly standards required for external review.

Manuscripts that pass the desk review are sent to two independent expert reviewers with relevant academic expertise. JWMAP operates a double-blind peer-review process. Authors must remove identifying information from the main manuscript file, including author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and any other information that may reveal the authors’ identities.

The final editorial decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief or the Editorial Board based on reviewers’ comments and editorial judgment.

Possible editorial decisions include:

  • Accept

  • Minor Revision

  • Major Revision

  • Re-review after Revision

  • Reject

When revision is required, authors must submit a revised manuscript together with a response letter explaining how each reviewer comment has been addressed.

8. Manuscript Language

Manuscripts should be written in clear and professional English. Authors are responsible for ensuring that the manuscript is grammatically correct and readable.

Authors whose first language is not English are encouraged to have their manuscripts reviewed by a qualified English editor before submission.

  • Regular Articles: 5,000–7,000 words

  • Short Communications: 2,000–4,000 words

17. Article Processing Charge

JWMAP does not charge any submission fee or peer-review fee.

Authors affiliated with institutions outside Korea are exempt from publication fees.

Authors affiliated with institutions in Korea are required to pay an article processing charge (APC) of KRW 300,000 for each accepted article. The APC is applied only after the manuscript has been finally accepted for publication.

Authors should not make any payment before receiving the official acceptance and publication notification from the editorial office.

Payment of the APC does not influence the peer-review process, editorial decision, acceptance, publication order, or indexing process.

Once an accepted article has entered the production or publication process, the APC is generally non-refundable, except in cases of duplicate payment, administrative error, or other circumstances recognized by KODISA Foundation.

18. Final Proof and Publication

After acceptance, manuscripts proceed to copyediting and production. The production process includes checking the title, abstract, keywords, author information, affiliations, references, DOI, pagination, PDF, XML/HTML, and other metadata.

The corresponding author may be asked to review the final proof before publication. At the proof stage, only minor corrections are normally permitted. Substantial changes to the scholarly content may require editorial approval.

After final approval, the article is published online on the JWMAP website.
