Publication Fees and Article Processing Charge (APC)

The Journal of Wellbeing Management and Applied Psychology (JWMAP), owned, managed, and published by KODISA Foundation, is committed to maintaining a transparent publication-fee policy and ensuring that financial considerations do not influence editorial or peer-review decisions.

1. Submission and Peer-Review Fees

JWMAP does not charge a manuscript submission fee or peer-review fee.

Authors are not required to make any payment when submitting a manuscript or while the manuscript is undergoing editorial assessment or external peer review.

2. Publication Fee for Authors Affiliated Outside Korea

Authors affiliated with institutions outside the Republic of Korea are exempt from the article processing charge (APC).

No publication fee is charged to eligible authors affiliated with institutions outside Korea.

This fee exemption does not affect the journal's editorial standards, peer-review procedures, or publication requirements.

All manuscripts, regardless of the authors' country or institutional affiliation, are evaluated according to the same academic, methodological, ethical, and editorial standards.

3. Article Processing Charge for Authors Affiliated in Korea

Authors affiliated with institutions in the Republic of Korea are required to pay an Article Processing Charge (APC) of KRW 300,000 per accepted article.

The APC is charged only after the manuscript has received final acceptance for publication.

Authors must not make any payment before receiving an official acceptance and publication-fee notification from the JWMAP Editorial Office.

Where a manuscript involves authors with both Korean and non-Korean institutional affiliations, the applicable fee status will be confirmed by the Editorial Office before payment is requested.

4. Editorial Independence

Payment, non-payment, exemption, or waiver of the APC has no influence on:

• initial editorial screening;
• desk review;
• selection of reviewers;
• peer-review comments or recommendations;
• editorial decisions;
• acceptance or rejection;
• revision requirements;
• publication priority or publication order;
• post-publication editorial procedures; or
• indexing or metadata registration.

All manuscripts are evaluated solely on the basis of:

• relevance to the Aims and Scope of JWMAP;
• academic and scientific merit;
• originality;
• research significance;
• methodological rigor;
• validity and reliability of the research;
• research and publication ethics;
• transparency of reporting; and
• overall scholarly contribution.

Payment of an APC does not guarantee acceptance or publication.

5. Timing of Payment

Authors should make payment only after:

1. the manuscript has successfully completed the editorial and peer-review process;
2. the manuscript has received a final acceptance decision; and
3. the Editorial Office has issued an official payment or publication notification.

JWMAP does not require authors to pay an APC in order for a manuscript to enter or continue peer review.

6. Refund Policy

Once an accepted manuscript has entered the copyediting, production, DOI registration, metadata preparation, or publication process, the APC is generally non-refundable.

A refund may be considered in cases such as:

• duplicate payment;
• incorrect payment caused by an administrative error;
• payment made in error after an official exemption had been confirmed; or
• other exceptional circumstances recognized by KODISA Foundation.

Requests for refunds will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Withdrawal of an article by the authors after production has begun does not automatically entitle the authors to a refund.

7. Relationship Between Fees and Publication Ethics

JWMAP maintains a strict separation between financial administration and editorial decision-making.

Editors and reviewers must not make editorial recommendations or decisions based on whether an author is required to pay an APC or qualifies for an exemption.

Authors must not be asked to make payment as a condition for favorable peer review, acceptance, expedited editorial consideration, or indexing.

Any concern regarding inappropriate payment requests or the application of publication fees may be reported to the Editorial Contact.
