본 연구는 영유아를 양육하는 어머니를 대상으로 아동기 외상경험, 정서조절곤란, 부정적 양육태도 간의 관계에서 배우자지지의 조절된 매개효과를 검증하였다. 이를 위해 전국의 영유아를 양육 중인 어머니를 대상으로 온라인 자기보고식 설문 조사를 시행하였고, 총 300명이 설문에 참여하였다. 분석을 위해 SPSS 29.0과 PROCESS Macro for SPSS 4.1을 사용하였으며, 본 연구의 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 어머니의 아동기 외상경험, 정서조절곤란, 부정적 양육태도, 배우자지지 사이에서 유의한 상관이 나타났다. 둘째, 아동기 외상경험과 부정적 양육태도 간의 관계에서 정서조절곤란의 부분 매개효과가 유의하게 나타났다. 셋째, 배우자지지는 아동기 외상경험이 정서조절곤란에 미치는 효과를 유의하게 조절하는 것으로 나타났으나, 외상경험이 높은 경우에는 배우자지지 수준에 따른 정서조절곤란의 예측값 차이가 매우 미미하여, 보호효과가 실질적으로 소실되는 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 결과는 사회적 지지가 항상 보호적 자원으로만 작용하는 것이 아니라, 외상경험의 정도 및 심리적 맥락에 따라 그 효과가 제한될 수 있음을 시사한다. 이에 외상경험이 있는 양육자를 위한 상담 및 부모교육에서는 배우자지지의 질적 특성과 외상경험자의 정서 반응 특성을 고려한 맞춤형 지원과 환경 조성이 필요함을 제언한다.
This study examined the moderated mediation effect of spousal support on the relationships among childhood trauma, difficulties in emotion regulation, and negative parenting behaviors in mothers raising young children. An online survey was conducted with 300 mothers across South Korea, and the data were analyzed using SPSS 29.0 and PROCESS Macro 4.1. Significant correlations emerged among childhood trauma, emotion regulation difficulties, negative parenting behaviors, and spousal support. Emotion regulation difficulties partially mediated the association between childhood trauma and negative parenting behaviors. Spousal support moderated the effect of childhood trauma on difficulties in emotion regulation; however, among mothers with high levels of trauma, predicted emotion regulation difficulties varied only minimally across levels of spousal support, indicating limited protection. Results suggest that social support does not consistently function as a protective factor. Interventions for caregivers with trauma histories should incorporate tailored strategies that consider the quality of spousal support and trauma-related emotional characteristics.
