본 연구는 분리 개별화 수준이 낮은 기혼여성이 경험하는 대인관계 어려움의 본질적 의미를 이해하기 위하여 수행되었다. 이를 위하여 분리 개별화 척도에서 낮은 수준에 해당하며 자녀를 양육 중인 30~40대 기혼여성 10명을 대상으로 반구조화된 개별 면담을 실시하고 내용을 분석하였다. 연구방법으로 Colaizzi의 현상학적 분석절차를 적용한 결과, 5개의 주제, 19개의 세부 주제, 49개의 구성의미가 도출되었다. 5개의 주제는 ‘상처받은 어린 시절의 경험’, ‘부정적 자기개념의 형성’, ‘관계 형성과 유지가 어려움’, ‘주요한 관계에서의 갈등과 괴로움을 경험함’, ‘대인관계 어려움으로 인한 영향과 대처’로 나타났다. 참여자들은 어린 시절의 상처로 형성된 부정적 자기개념이 현재의 대인관계에 영향을 미쳐 삶의 고단함과 공허감을 경험하게 하며 이로 인해 어려움을 회피하거나 인내하는 경향을 보였으나 동시에 앞으로 자녀에게 상처를 대물림하지 않으려는 절실함과 함께 어려움 속에서도 나아가고자 하는 움직임이 존재함을 보고하였다. 본 연구는 분리 개별화 수준이 낮은 기혼여성의 대인관계 경험 구조를 밝힘으로써 상담 현장에서의 개입 방향을 제시하고, 이를 토대로 향후 연구를 위한 시사점을 제안하였다.
This study explored the essential meaning of interpersonal difficulties experienced by married women with low separation-individuation. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten married women in their 30s and 40s who scored low on the Separation-Individuation Scale and were raising children. Applying Colaizzi’s phenomenological method, five themes, 19 subthemes, and 49 formulated meanings were derived: painful childhood experiences; formation of a negative self-concept; difficulties forming and maintaining relationships; conflicts and distress in key relationships; and impacts of and coping with interpersonal difficulties. Negative self-concepts rooted in childhood trauma persistently affected participants’ current relationships, leading to hardship and emptiness. Although they initially avoided or endured these struggles, they also demonstrated a strong drive toward growth, driven by a desperate commitment not to pass their wounds to their children. By illuminating the structure of interpersonal experiences, this study provides therapeutic direction for counseling practice and implications for future research.
