노후 공공도서관의 리모델링 계획수립에 관한 연구 - 교육청 소속 A도서관을 사례로 하여 -

초록
본 연구는 1982년에 건립되어 40년 이상 경과한 A도서관의 리모델링 계획 수립에 관한 실천적 연구이다. 본 연구의 목적은 시설환경 개선의 관점보다는 도서관에 대한 사회적 수요를 예측하고 지역사회 내에서 도서관의 역할을 검토하여 이를 토대로 리모델링 계획을 수립한 A도서관의 리모델링 사례를 살펴보는데 있다. 이를 위해 본 연구에서는 A도서관의 입지나 봉사대상 인구 등에 대한 기본적인 현황 검토를 비롯하여 ⑴ A도서관에 대한 지역주민의 요구 분석, ⑵ A도서관의 지위적 역할을 고려한 공간 실태 분석, ⑶ 유사규모의 사례 및 리모델링 우수사례 검토, ⑷ 소속 기관(교육청)의 정책 기조 분석 등과 같은 종합적․다면적 접근을 통해 리모델링의 방향과 세부 내용을 도출하였다. 연구에 필요한 데이터는 설문조사, 면담조사, 도서관 건립 및 리모델링 기준과 매뉴얼 분석, 사례분석을 통해 확보하였다. 본 연구의 결과는 새로운 사회적 요구에 대응하기 위한 리모델링 방향 설정의 기초자료로 활용할 수 있을 것이다.

Abstract
This study is an action study to develop a remodeling plan for a public library, which was built in 1982 and is more than 40 years old. The purpose of this study is to examine the remodeling case of Library ‘A’, which was intended to predict social demand and role of public libraries, especially from the perspective of the local community. This study took a comprehensive and multifaceted approach as follows: ⑴ analyzing users’ demands for the library, ⑵ reviewing the space program according to the role of the library within the community, ⑶ investigating the best practices, and ⑷ analyzing the policies of the Metropolitan Office of Education. Data were obtained through surveys, interviews, literature review, and case analysis. The results of this study can be used as a basic data for setting the direction of a remodeling to respond to new social demands.
