Sansaramdeul by Lee Taejun was a play that Geugyesuryeonguhoe paid attention to. Geugyesuryeonguhoe recommended this work as a regular performance in May 1936. However, due to censorship this work was not performed, and as a result the work was not staged throughout the Japanese colonial period. Therefore, until now, research and analysis on Sansaramdeul tended to be biased towards the narrative of the play. This biased approach needs to be urgently supplemented, and the breakthrough can be assumed to be related to Kim Iryeoung. Kim Iryeoung encounters Sansaramdeul while in charge of stage design for the 11th regular performance in May 1936. In addition Kim Iryeoung left a trace of contemplating the necessary stage design in the stage production process of Sansaramdeul. However, the performance was lost. Eventually, the worries were partially transferred to the alternative work Tragedy of the Lake(Ho‒sang‒ui bi‒geug) and the simultaneous performance Jamae (sisters), ultimately had an effect on the staging of each work. This study was to find a way to view the stage space of Sansaramdeul through Kim Iryeoung’s stage concept, and to find the hidden meaning of the play space of Sansaramdeul through such stage space. In the end, Sansaramdeul was a successful case of embedding a new perspective of reality into a play through the creation of a play space represented by Hwajeonmin’s site in a play.
