The Academy of Korean Studies (AKS) houses a collection of 12 Korean heritage paintings. The series comprises two works created in 1967 and 10 paintings centered on the theme of Korean culture created during the final stage of the Culture and Arts Revival Policy (1974-1978). Following the completion of these Korean heritage paintings in 1980, the Art Council Korea assumed full responsibility for their management and utilization via a “rental” system. This thesis investigates the production background of the 10 paintings depicting Korean culture, as well as the changes in the location of the collection before they were donated free of charge to the AKS in 1998.
