This study developed and evaluated a social justice advocacy career group counseling program for sexual and gender minorities (SGM). The program followed a structured model with four stages: planning, design, content organization, and implementation with evaluation. Based on career constructivist theory, the program aimed to enhance participants’ positive SGM identity, critical consciousness, work volition (as readiness factors), and career adaptability resources. Effectiveness was assessed using the Career Construction Model of Adaptation by examining pre- to post-test changes and whether increased adaptability resources predicted adapting responses after one month and adaptation outcomes after three months. Results showed significant improvements in readiness and resources, except for critical consciousness. Moreover, gains in adaptability resources at post-test predicted positive adapting responses and adaptation outcomes at follow-ups. This study is the first to apply a social justice lens in SGM career counseling, extending constructivist career theory and addressing social contexts affecting SGM career development.
