본 연구는 상담심리를 전공하는 대학원생을 대상으로, 편견, 특권, 차별에 관한 대화를 촉진하는 프로그램인 집단 내 대화(Intragroup Dialogue [IntraGD])의 참여 경험과 효과를 한국 문화적 맥락에서 탐색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 시스젠더인 실험집단(n=15)은 트랜스젠더 및 젠더 논바이너리 관련 이슈를 중심으로 총 7회기에 걸쳐 IntraGD 프로그램에 참여하였으며, 통제집단(n=15)은 별도의 처치를 받지 않았다. 연구는 다양성 수용도, 젠더 감수성, 상담자 옹호역량, 공감 능력에 미치는 영향을 비교하였고, 합의적 질적 연구방법(Consensual Qualitative Research)을 활용하여 심층 면접 자료를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, IntraGD는 다양성 수용도, 젠더 감수성, 상담자 옹호역량에서 유의미한 향상을 보였으며, 공감 능력의 인지적 측면에도 긍정적인 영향을 미친 것으로 나타났다. 질적분석에서는 참여자들이 자기 성찰과 타인 조망을 통해 편견과 특권을 자각하고, 소수자 옹호 의식을 강화하는 등 긍정적인 변화를 경험한 것으로 드러났다. 본 연구는 IntraGD가 단독으로도 한국적 맥락에서 상담자 옹호역량 증진에 효과적으로 활용될 가능성을 시사하며, 동시에 InterGD의 준비 단계로서도 유의미한 역할을 수행할 가능성을 확인하였다. 마지막으로, 연구의 의의와 한계, 후속 연구 방향을 논의하며, 다양성 교육 및 상담 분야에서의 활용 가능성을 제안하였다.
This study investigated the effects of the semi-structured Intragroup Dialogue (IntraGD) program, which addresses prejudice, privilege, and discrimination, in South Korea. Fifteen cisgender counseling psychology graduate students participated in seven sessions focusing on transgender and gender non-binary (TGNB) issues, while 15 control participants received no intervention. The study measured changes in openness to diversity, gender sensitivity, counselor advocacy competence, and empathy. Employing Consensual Qualitative Research for in-depth interviews, results indicated significant improvements in openness to diversity, gender sensitivity, and advocacy competence, as well as enhanced cognitive empathy. Participants reported increased self-reflection, perspective-taking, awareness of prejudice and privilege, and advocacy for marginalized individuals. These findings suggest that IntraGD can bolster counselor advocacy competence as a standalone intervention and serve as preparatory training for InterGD in the Korean context. The study discusses implications, limitations, and future directions, highlighting IntraGD’s value for diversity education and counseling. It holds promise for broader applications.
