Abstract

In this paper, I studied on the Story of Weonhongjang 元洪莊 and the original narrative of Simcheongjeon 심청전. As a result of this research, We got to know that the Story of Weonhongjang is quite closely related to Simcheongjeon, and has considerable potentiality for pansori. First, the story of Weonhongjang is a folktale that dependent arising of Buddhist temple. But this part is excluded, The characters are similar to those of Simcheongjeon. And, the style of transmission is the same too. Second, the story of Weonhongjang is related to Simcheongjeon in terms of narrative. Filial piety motif, human sacrifice motif, gaining eyesight motif were found in both stories. And, the narrative function of the characters was the same. Third, the story of Weonhongjang is excellent in scene description and emotional description. And, the theme senses pursuit of the daedong 大同 community. this shows is possibility to become pansori. For these reasons, we certify that the story of Weonhongjang is a the most closely related to Simcheongjeon.
