Abstract

Human rights education is a general process with a universal fervor for human rights, we teach the basic powers and authorities of a human and critically perceive reality averse to human rights, and thereby seek for changes that will allow us better prospects and behaviors. Human rights education is at the core of nurturing democratic citizenry, in that the education, as the learners comprehend the importance of human rights, secures a social solidarity based on co-existence and communication, and raises public citizens. This paper looks at human rights and the composition of human rights education, and critically investigates the limitations of human rights education system and its programs. As the paper will show, human rights education, except for some formal education, lacks well-organized system and orientation; furthermore, dominant values are excessively homogeneous. Responding to these current limitations, the paper will seek for alternative human rights education. For its methodology, the paper employs the idea that human rights education is action-disposition and utilizes cognitive abilities related to participation and recognition.
