조선시대 사대부 언간 서체의 미적 특징 고찰 : 16-19세기 자음자의 서체를 중심으로

Abstract

It is invaluable for calligraphers to study the unique and diverse formative elements represented in the Korean letters written by Sadaebu(士大夫). While a study on the calligraphic characteristics written by Sadaebu(士大夫) has been focused on the Chinese letters until now, a study on the Korean letters has been made only in formative elements. Accordingly I investigated 1473 letters in 28 denominations in the late 16th and the late 19th Centuries, selected three Sadaebus(士大夫) according to the times, analyzed calligraphic characteristics on the phonemes, and examined their common elements and distinctive elements diachronically. Using the analysis methods such as simplicity, consecutiveness, correspondence and pocorresndence, I tried to find the aesthetic sources in each calligraphic style based on Sadaebu(士大夫)’s scholarship and art. The calligraphic style was natural and simple in the 16th century. In the 17th century the calligraphic style was courteous and careful as if Seoin Nohron group in Yul Gok literary background had represented their authority. In the 18th century, Silhak period, the cursive style was prevailed with the appearance of Donggukjin style. In the 19th century the calligraphic style was powerful as well as plain under the methodological influence of Bihak(碑學).
