A Reinterpretation of “Deomkkeocheuni” in the Last Phrase of Ssanghwajeom

Abstract
In the last phrase of Ssanghwajeom, the word ‘deomkkeocheul-’ includes the word ‘keocheul-’ that means the reason of things as an axis of meaning. The word ‘keocheul-’ that means the reason of things can be divided into the word ‘keo·cheul-’ for a judgment on good or ill and the word ‘:keo·cheul-’ for a judgment on true or false. The word ‘:keo·cheul-’ for a judgment on true or false is the result that the word ‘keo·cheul-’ for a judgment on good or ill rush toward the most severe side and finally fall into its endpoint. In this same way, the word ‘keo·cheul-’ for a judgment on good or ill is the result that the word ‘keocheul-’ for a judgment on the aspect of things rush toward the most severe side. According to the inevitable demands of the situation and context faced by the lyric ego of Ssanghwajeom, the word ‘deomkkeocheul-’ should be interpreted as meaning to say the word ‘:keo·cheul-’ for a judgment on true or false. The lyric ego of Ssanghwajeom is not the man of experienced, she is just a victim of the allegation and rumor. Therefore the decision of hers on the allegation and rumor, of course, is the word ‘:keo·cheul-’ for a judgment on true or false, it is not the word ‘keo·cheul-’ for a judgment on good or ill. The last phrase of Ssanghwajeom should be recognized as a comment to deny strongly the allegation and rumor that ‘I have slept at there’ by being read as meaning to say that ‘There is nothing more groundless than the place where I slept at.’ Only in this interpretation, the tone and purport of the last phrase of Ssanghwajeom can be revealed. Because there is no such facts that ‘I have slept at there,’ the lyric ego of Ssanghwajeom has said ‘It is the most deceitful.’ The word ‘deomkkeocheul-’ is a word that means ‘have no foundation’ in the range of ‘be not.’
