Abstract
The goal of this thesis is to analyze the two movies 「Forbidden Quest」, 「The Servant」 written and directed by Kim Daewoo. The young scholar YunSeo in 「Forbidden Quest」 chose to give up the classical writings and write the pornographic books after he sincerely worried about real writing. When he wrote pornographic novels he felt a real strong desire in writing he never got before. His popular writings show the movement from the major literature to minor literature. His writing is the creation of the value by the stream of dissociation. It is a new arts by the stream of desire. He wants to write his books by his own desire and will. So he realizes the flight desire and he goes to the new birth of the real individual. 「The Servant」 is the rewriting of 「ChunHyang Story」. Kim DaeWoo changed the historical classic work into interesting and easy work for popular readers. It is a kind of kitsch writing. He changed newly classic work into popular culture and he ridiculed false ethics. He destructed the old work and he pursued the real sincerity of the characters. He pursued new meanings of the old work by rewriting to be suitable in the popular arts age. His works are spent easily as popular arts. But there are many kinds of sufferings, inner conflicts and choices to the world as a writer in popular arts age. The movies by Kim DaeWoo show kitsch expression and value. They are fruits of the conflicts by a quest Kim DaeWoo in the popular arts age in the real artists are dead and kitsch artists make kitsch arts to sell to the popular audience.
